Corner Brook hosting U13-U14 boys Atlantic Canadian soccer championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association are welcoming three other provinces to Corner Brook today as the U13/U14 Atlantic Soccer Championships get underway at Wellington Street Sports Complex.

Joining Newfoundland and Labrador are Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

The U13 boys team consists of Ahmed Shehata, Alexander Dillon, Anderson Pritchard, Braedon Harvey, Dillon Brown, Dylan Owens, Ethan Strickland, Evan Carter, Finlay Stephen, Finley Manning, Firmosa Hasan, Ian O’Driscoll, Issac Bailey, Josh Peddle, Kirk Edwards, Logan Dobbin, Max Baker Pike, Nicholas Jones, Owen Afonso, and Reggie Pike.

The U14 boys team features Alexandre Nunes, Alex Brothers, Ali Zidan, Andrew Power, Ben James, Brandon Toope, Brett Russell, Colby Stephen, Daniel Courage, Daniel Hanlon, Jacob Bartlett, James Clarke, Jonathan Furlong, Liam Hennessey, Mycah Winsor, Patrick Hurley, Ryan Kenny, and Taj Exley.

The teams will play a three-game round robin, with the top two teams in each age group advancing to the gold-medal games, while the third and fourth place teams play for bronze.

Unfortunately for local fans, there are no west coast soccer players on either roster.

Meanwhile, the Newfoundland and Labrador girls U13 and U14 teams head to Charlottetown, P.E.I. for their provincial championships.

There are no west coast representatives in those lineups either.
