St. John's club wins women's softball provincials

They were the only non-Corner Brook team in the four-team field, but they got the job done anyway.

Impact Signs of St. John’s captured the women’s fastpitch softball provincial championship at Fred Basha Memorial Park on Sunday with a 10-0 mercy rule win over the KSAB Curling Rangers.

Vic Davies led the charge for the victors, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Jenna Connolly earned the pitching decision over Donna Clarke.

With a 3-2 record, Clarke was named top pitcher of the tournament, while Karen Bolger of the Rangers was top batter with a .571 average. Reagan Myers of Impact Signs was tournament MVP with two pitching wins, five RBIs, and a .500 batting average.

Impact Signs made the final on the strength of a 17-0 five-inning win over the Rapid Power Sports Bees, while the Rangers edged Whelan’s Gate 14-13 to punch their ticket to the championship game.
