Tommy Ryan had two goals and an assist — including the eventual game-winner and first of the game — four minutes into the second period to lead the Royals to a 5-0 win over the first-place Stephenville Jets before a crowd of 2,200 fans at the Corner Brook civic centre Friday night.
Ryan Macmackin, Matt Colbourne and Johnny Jones also scored for the Royals.
Brad Dyke, who only had to make a couple of key saves in the early going in a game the Royals controlled from start to finish, picked up the shutout.
The league will wrap up the abbreviated season’s regular schedule with the Port aux Basques Mariners taking on the Deer Lake Red Wings Saturday night at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex in Deer Lake.
The Jets and Royals will clash in a one-game final Friday night at the Stephenville Dome. Puck drop wasn’t known at press time.
