Western Kings suffer first defeat of provincial major midget hockey league campaign

It was fun while it lasted, but the Dennis GM Western Kings have finally tasted defeat.

The Kings fell 4-3 to the St. John’s Maple Leafs on Saturday, their first loss of the provincial major midget hockey league campaign.

Seymour Regan provided the unassisted dagger for the Leafs with 8:23 left in the third period. Logan Brothers, Alex French and Paul Norman also struck in the win.

Adrian Ward, Andrew Antle and Liam Smith did the damage in the loss.

Andrew Curtis secured the W for the Leafs in net, with Kirklin Young taking the loss.

In the weekend’s other game, the Kings were back to their winning ways as they shut down the Leafs 1-0.

Antle provided the lone goal of the game.

Lucas Park earned the shutout, with Curtis taking the loss.

The Kings are in Moncton, N.B. this coming weekend for the annual Monctonian tournament.
