Western Kings suffer rare defeat against Blizzard

The Dennis GM Western Kings were handed a loss for just the second time this season in provincial major midget hockey league play over the weekend.

Ethan Stuckless scored a pair of goals for the East Coast Blizzard in a 2-1 triumph on Sunday morning at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.

Jordan Blackwood turned aside 38 shots between the pipes.

Liam Smith was the lone marksman for the Kings (27-1-2-0-0-0.

Kirklin Young took the loss.

On Saturday, during Hockey Day in Canada festivities, the Kings blanked the Blizzard 3-0.

Noah Legge, Kris Thomas and Skylar Coates lit the lamp for the victors.

Lucas Park recorded a 30-save shutout.

Andrew D’Entremont was the losing netminder.

The Kings are off next weekend, but hit the road to tangle with Tripen Feb. 3-4.

The playoffs begin Feb. 10 weekend.
