ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — For the first time in over two decades, there'll be no petroleum industry trade show in St. John's next spring.
EventWorx Corporation, organizers of the Atlantic Canada Petroleum Show — formely the Offshore Newfoundland Petroleum Show — announced Wednesday they were postponing the 2020 event until further notice.
The show, which in recent years has coincided with Noia's annual conference in St. John's, has hosted thousands of companies from across Canada to showcase technologies, products and services to the offshore industry. During its peak, the trade show welcomed more than 2,000 attendees and partnered with numerous offshore media partners, government and the local oil and gas industry association.
EventWorx says a competing exhibition launched at Noia's conference made it difficult for the industry to support two concurrent exhibitions.
“In simple terms, the market is not large enough to support two competing energy exhibitions hosted at the same time," Wes Scott, CEO of EventWorx Corporation explained in a news release. "At this time, it is best for EventWorx to focus on events where we can maximize our customers’ return on investment.”
