Lynn Drover graduated from the business program at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland in October and by November the Corner Brook woman had opened her own toy store.

Kinder Castle is located at 6 Commercial St.

“I’ve always had a passion for making my own money and for being my own boss,” said Drover.

She chose the toy store because she felt the city has “a very huge gap” in the children’s market right now and wanted to change that.

“What people are really looking for is the home atmosphere, the family friendly atmosphere.”

She said they also want to deal with staff that are knowledgeable about the products a store has to offer.

“People want that unique hands-on experience, that intimate experience.”

She said Kinder Castle likes to bring in what customers are looking for and has large list of distributors that is growing everyday.

“Because it’s fine to have walls and shelves full of product, but if the product isn’t what your market wants then what are you doing here.”

The past month has been a busy one for the new business owner and she’s already expanding her operation. Drover has acquired Celebration City, a party supply store that had been located on Broadway, and in the new year plans to offer birthday parties and other events at Kinder Castle.

“So now we have another place where families and kids can gather for birthday parties and events which isn’t just the typical things that people do on a daily basis.”
