CLARENVILLE, N.L. — White Hills Ski Resort is looking into different opportunities—ones that could see off season activity at the hill—including mountain biking.

At last month’s council meeting, council talked about a feasibility study proposed by the Alpine Development Alliance Corporation (ADAC). The assessment would be for a “lift access mountain bike park.”

Recreation and Community Development Committee chairman Coun. Rod Nicholl says an application was sent to the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) for funding but ADAC wants the town to provide 10 per cent of the project cost, totaling $1,630.

Coun. Paul Tilley says the resulting report will find out if it is economically viable to downhill mountain bike riding to “fulfill a mandate of a 12-month operation.”

The Finance, Administration and Planning committee recommended the cost be approved for the study, while council approved the motion unanimously.
