FOGO ISLAND — Fogo Island Inn guests will soon be able to arrive on Fogo Island in one day from major U.S. hubs including New York City and Boston this summer and early fall with the launch of a new air service that meets travellers in Halifax, N.S.

A private air charter service operated by EVAS Air of Gander, Newfoundland, combines overnight accommodation at the inn with direct flights which land on the island’s airstrip.

The service will fly guests between Halifax and Fogo Island on Fridays and Mondays, beginning July 12 and running through to Sept. 9.

The charter flights will allow more direct connections from the inn’s main U.S., U.K., European and Canadian markets, the inn said in a news release.
“This new air access option will make it easier for more guests to visit Fogo Island Inn: less travel, more Fogo Island time. The new service is ideal for stays of three or four nights,” Pauline Payne, director of sales systems and revenue management, said in the news release.

The 120-minute flights are by way of a twin engine Beech 1900D, and are available to guests booking stays during Fogo Island’s summer and berry seasons.

Room rates at the Fogo Island Inn start at $1,975 a night for two — including meals, snacks  and non-alcoholic beverages — with a three-night stay the minimum requirement from June to September.

The cost of this private charter is $1,000 plus tax per person each way.
