ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Newfoundland-based Kraken has scored another contract for use of its KATFISH 180 technology developed by its robotics systems arm.
ThayerMahan Inc., a United States company specializing in the design, integration, and operation of autonomous maritime systems for government, industry, and academic customers, signed a contract valued at $2.1 million to deploy Kraken’s KATFISH 180 as part of its SeaScout expeditionary system for seabed mapping and intelligence.
The order is the first resulting from a strategic alliance started between the two companies in February of 2018 which aims to deliver next-generation underwater sensors and robotics for military, law enforcement, port and maritime security, Last August, the companies participated in the U.S. Navy’s Advanced Naval Technology Exercise, an annual invitation-only event that was created to see the future of naval technology in action today.
