The capital region’s jobless rate deteriorated slightly to 4.4per cent in November, up from 4.2 per cent in October.
While the region added 1,300 jobs, the size of the labour force, which includes job seekers, rose by 2,500.
Employment topped 800,000 for the first time, Statistics Canada reported.
There was little movement in the capital region job market by sector in November over October, with a few exceptions.
Professional services was down 3,800 (to 81,600) and education was up 4,800 (to 63,200).
Public administration jobs rose by 2,600 (to 176,900) while the tech sector was down by same amount (to 45,800).
Nationally, the Canadian economy lost 71,200 jobs in November, and the unemployment rate climbed to 5.9 per cent.
