Port Rexton Brewing Company Ltd. has registered a project to expand its operations with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment for environmental assessment.
According to an environmental assessment bulletin issued by the department today, Thursday, Jan. 10, the company is proposing to construct a 5,000 square foot warehouse-style building along Route 230 in the Town of Port Rexton to operate a 15-barrel capacity microbrewery.
The Port Rexton Brewing Company already owns and operates a microbrewery and taproom in the town, which includes public access and a hospitality service.
The proposed new facility is needed to expand brewing capacity to meet product demand and will not have public access, the bulletin indicated. The brewery will operate year-round.
The public has until Feb. 14 to comment on the proposal with Municipal Affairs and Environment Minister Graham Letto’s decision due by Feb. 21.
