SYDNEY, N.S. — The NextGen Leadership Society, in collaboration with the Cape Breton Partnership, hosted the 2019 Vital Cape Breton Awards on Nov. 8 at Centre 200.

In the employer category, winners were Parks Canada, Eskasoni Corporate, United Way Cape Breton, Orenda Software Solutions and Island Eyecare.

The employee category saw Shirley Everly (Protocase), Emma Jerrott (The Good Food Bus), Ricky McCarthy (Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation), Savannah Anderson (New Dawn) and Joe Costello (Cape Breton Regional Municipality) all honoured.

The individual category saw Dr. Kristen Sutherland, Adam Young, Margie Beaton, Hannah Kosick, Bricin Lyons, Rodney Thibeau and Grace Thibeau all receive Vital awards.

The Vital awards recognize the success and talents of the region’s youth between the ages of 16 and 40, and employers who create employment and rewarding work environments for young professionals. Award recipients are honoured for their talent, drive and achievements in making Cape Breton a better place to live, work and play.
