Habitat NL’s Great Big Chocolate House Build was held on Saturday at The Comfort Inn in St. John’s.

It was a festive family-friendly event, with face painting and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Santa’s elves.

It’s the third year for the annual event which raises funds for Habitat for Humanity – Newfoundland and Labrador.

Families came together to build Newfoundland Chocolate Company chocolate houses – a twist on the classic gingerbread house – all while raising awareness of Habitat NL’s vision that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home.

Each chocolate house sold was a donation towards that goal, and on Saturday over 160 chocolate houses were sold and decorated. There were so many participants, the event was scheduled in four different one-hour time slots throughout the day.

The video below was taken during the last session of the afternoon.
