A renowned local artist and his works are the focus of a film that’s in the running for a national award.
“Immaculate Memories: The Uncluttered Worlds of Christopher Pratt” has been nominated in the best documentary feature film category at the 2019 Canadian Screen Awards.
The film features Pratt and Newfoundland filmmaker Kenneth J. Harvey embarking on a seven-day road trip across the province in search of the places where Pratt's iconic paintings were conceived.
The 83-year-old artist from St. John’s — who designed the provincial flag of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1980 — is one of the most successful and respected artists in Canada. His work has been displayed and has received high acclaim around the world.
The film has been described as an honest, funny, eloquent, bizarre and sometimes unsettling account of Pratt's life and art.
It was previously nominated for best Canadian documentary at RIFFA 2019 and won
best original score at the 2019 Nickel Film Festival.

“You Are Here,” a documentary featuring Gander’s response to receiving 38 airplanes after the 9-11 terror attacks, is nominated in two categories — best documentary program and the Barbara Sears Award for Best Visual Research.
