CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —

P.E.I. Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre (PARC) has announced a workshop with artistic director Pamela Halstead set for Oct. 19 and 20 in Charlottetown.

The playwriting workshop will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and 1- 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Haviland Club. There are 10 spaces available.

Halstead is a longtime dramaturge with experience at the Banff Playwrights Colony, as well as lead dramaturge for Lunchbox Theatre’s Stage One Festival and the PARC Playwrights Colony.

Participants are invited to bring script ideas and/or a few pages of an opening scene to the workshop. Halstead will discuss the concept, asking dramaturgical questions to focus the writer and provide a clear direction.

After the discussion, participants will write over the night and then reconvene the next day with the group to talk about challenges, outcomes and next steps. Additionally, there will be support from PARC in the subsequent months and a follow-up session, if desired, in the spring of 2020.

To register, e-mail Melissa Mullen, P.E.I. PARC representative, at melissa.hallaig@gmail.com. PARC members pay $50 and non-members pay $75. Register for a PARC membership on the website.
