A lot of people were doing a double-take on Monday afternoon, Aug. 13, when this white pickup truck drove through Clarenville with a very authentic looking moose gazing over the cab of the truck.
Taxidermy might have been the first thought that came to mind, but that guess would have been wrong. The moose is actually carved from wood.
Kevin Parsons of Southern Harbour owns the moose; a wooden replica of the real animal, carved by Cory Chaulk of Rogers Cove, Gander Bay.
Parsons says when he saw Chaulk’s carving he knew he had to have it for his property in Garden Cove, Placentia Bay.
Parsons laughed when asked about the reaction of people they met on the trip home. “Oh yeah, we got quite a few looks and people pointing fingers,” he said.
