Newfoundland actor, director and author, Greg Malone, is back at Grenfell Campus to direct “The Laramie Project.”
The second- and third-year students involved in the play will deliver the show in the Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre.
“The Laramie Project” is the story of University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, whose brutal murder in October 1998 became an iconic death, one that brought lot of attention to homophobia and prejudices.
Malone said the play is moving, challenging and uplifting.
“It is theatre at its timeless best,” he said in a prepared release.
The students of Grenfell’s theatre program have been researching and rehearsing “The Laramie Project” for many weeks.
Todd Hennessey, dean of the School of Fine Arts, it is fitting and exciting Grenfell is able to bring the “socially important and community-minded production” into the community.
The Laramie Project will be on stage at the Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre March 7-9, playing nightly at 8 p.m.
