Junior and senior high students are busy preparing for their midterm exams which begin next week on Friday.
The annual IHMS Snowball Dance was a huge success.
The grade four cross country skiing lessons have been postponed for this week because of last week’s mild weather and rain. Students are anxiously awaiting more snow to fall so they can begin their lessons.
The public health nurse visited this week to do hygiene sessions with grade five girls and the grade six class.
Students in grades four, five, and six have been busy writing speeches for the upcoming Elementary School Speak Off. The Speak Off will take place in our school cafeteria on Tuesday, January 23 at 7 pm. Selected students from each grade will compete to be named the overall school winner.
IHMS students will attend the Legion’s Remembrance Day essay and Poster Contest Awards ceremony on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
Our school is selling Winter Carnival Buttons.
Today we are wearing our hockey jerseys in support of National Hockey Day in Canada happening in our city!
Stars of the Week
Congratulations to Jenna Cammie and Rebecca Janes who competed this weekend in Skating Competitions.
Congratulations to Jacob Butt who won the Royals Colouring Contest. Jacob was presented with a Royals jersey last week at the hockey game.
The junior kindergarten classes are learning about winter words, using paint and glitter to make a winter sky painting. They would like to welcome back Ms. Barbra Dicks to their program.
Mrs. Hodder’s Kindergarten English class is learning about bones in science. They have set up their worm factory for their classroom worm composting. Students are excited for the hospital orientation next week.
Mrs. George’s grade one English class is learning about protecting their senses in science class. They are making story cubes in religion class with all the stories they have learned about Jesus.
Mme. Ryan’s grade one and two French Immersion class is enjoying learning about winter activities. They are using snow to learn about the changing states of matter. They were surprised to see how much dirt was in their melted snow!
Ms. Cunning’s grade two English class class has started addition and subtraction in math. They are learning all about measurement in science and creating beautiful winter themed pictures in art.
Mme. Moss’ grade three, four, five and six French Immersion class is working hard on their grammar units. When they aren’t conjugating verbs, they are busy with the STEM project and being quizzed on their timetables.
Mrs. Bishop’s grade three class is building their final paper bridges today. The strongest bridge will be determined. Students will examine the winning bridge’s design.
Ms. Guy’s grade four class is learning about celebrations in French class and light in science. They are anxious to present their speeches in class today.
Mr. Ryley’s grade five class is presenting their speeches today for the Elementary School Speak Off. They are learning about ancient Nubia in social studies.
Mrs. McCarthy’s grade six class is presenting their speeches today. They worked very hard all week. They are learning about culture in social studies.
Mr. Drew Nadon’s grade seven and eight class is busy preparing for their upcoming midterm exams. The grade seven basketball team has started preparing for the upcoming season.
Mr. Hancock’s grade nine to level three class is busy preparing for the upcoming midterm exams. Math 2201 students are completing a unit on radicals.
The kindergarten orientation at the Western Memorial School of Nursing will take place on Tuesday, January 23.
The grade seven to Level 3 students begin their midterm exams on January 26th.
