Bay St. George RCMP are advising of a fundraising scam on the go in Port au Port East.
On Tuesday of last week police received a complaint of the scam, which involved residents of the community receiving calls soliciting money for a school fundraiser at St. Thomas Aquinas school. The fraudsters were successful in obtaining money from some residents.
The public is advised that although there are many legitimate fundraisers taking place year-round, if you have suspicions regarding their legitimacy contact the event's organizers or the police with any questions or concerns.
