There’s still no indication on whether or not the Beaver Brook Antimony Mine, near Glenwood, will reopen, but work is taking place should that indeed happen.
Speculation about a possible restart had been growing since the company posted an employment opportunities ad for more than 20 different jobs back in January. Beaver Brook representatives have acknowledged The Central Voice’s inquiries, but comment was declined at this time.

The Department of Natural Resources stated in an email that it is actively working on efforts to bring the mine back to life. There are currently nine workers providing care and maintenance at the mine, and the company is in good standing with the province, they added.
“Beaver Brook Antimony has two mining leases in good standing and is fully compliant with the Mining Act,” stated the release. “Both an approved development plan and an accepted rehabilitation and closure plan with financial assurance are in place.”
Should there be any change in the mine’s operational status, they said, an announcement will be made.
