LOCH LOMOND, N.S. — Police say the deceased person found Tuesday near Loch Lomond has been identified as 69-year-old Allister MacNeil.
Neighbours had contacted the Cape Breton Regional Police Service after not seeing or hearing from MacNeil, of Morrison Road, since Nov. 6.
The Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association and Department of Lands and Forestry lent aircraft and spotters to search efforts over the weekend.
MacNeil’s vehicle was located Sunday in a heavily wooded area near Loch Lomond.
On Tuesday, a body was found in the woods near the area where the vehicle of the missing man had been located on Sunday.
Officials with the CBRPS say the remains are still with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause of death, but police do not believe foul play is a factor.
Loch Lomond is about 65 kilometres south east of Sydney.
