SYDNEY MINES, N.S. — Cape Breton Regional Police say two male youth are in custody and charges are pending after an incident at Memorial Composite High.
Police were called to the school on Wednesday morning after a staff member reported seeing a student outside the building in possession of what looked like a firearm.
Officers used video surveillance, along with information from witnesses to quickly identify two suspects.
The students were located and removed from their class, with police finding two air soft replica pistols in their possession. The youth were placed under arrest for mischief.
Police have cleared the school for safety, but officers will remain on scene as they continue their investigation.
