Highlighting the uncertainty of what a day on the job can bring, the Saskatoon Police Service shared two videos that show its members going above and beyond.

The videos — captured on Sept. 3, 2018 — show officers responding to a man pinned underneath a car, “being crushed and struggling to breath under its weight,” police said in social media posts.

This week marks #NationalPoliceWeek, and we know that on any given day, our members go above and beyond in the course of their duties. One such effort happened late one night last year. In response to an unknown problem, officers located a man pinned underneath a car, being crushed and struggling to breath under its weight. Nine officers lifted and managed to hold the vehicle off the man, allowing him to breath until he could be pulled from underneath. They held the vehicle for a total of 1 minute and 44 seconds. Last week, their efforts were among those that were recognized at our Exemplary Service Awards. We congratulate everyone who was recognized.
