The City of Corner Brook has hired Rodney Cumby as its new City Manager.

The Council of the City of Corner Brook is pleased to announce the appointment of Rodney Cumby as its new City Manager

A native Newfoundlander, Cumby is an experienced municipal administrator with more than 20 years of experience in executive management. His current position is executive manager of operations and planning for the City of Lloydminster where he oversees around 350 employees and an $85-million budget.

Previously, Cumby held positions as chief administrative officer with the towns of Paradise, Portugal Cove-St. Phillips and Torbay, as well as town clerk/manager with the Town of Pouch Cove.

Cumby holds a bachelor of commerce degree from Memorial University and has completed additional training in government leadership from the University of Alberta. He is a former president of the Professional Municipal Administrators Association and a director with the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators.

In a press release issued by the city Wednesday afternoon, Cumby indicated he has family connections to western Newfoundland is looking forward to returning to the province.

Cumby is expected to begin his new job Feb. 11th.

Dale Park has been in the role of acting city manager since the city terminated the employment of former city manager Melissa Wiklund early last summer.
