‘Come From Away’ In Concert sold out

Performances start in St. John's on Wednesday, two a day runs through Sunday

St. John’s residents — and sisters — Agnes Duke (left) and Mary McGrath, celebrate their purchase of tickets to attend a performance of “Come From Away” which opens Wednesday in St. John’s at Holy Heart Theatre. The sisters purchased the tickets at the Holy Heart Theatre box office when it opened just after 10 a.m. this morning (Tuesday). They arrived at the box just before 6 a.m. to wait in line for their tickets for the opening matinee show at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. There are a total of eight shows running from Wednesday through Sunday (1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. ) The theatre, which holds 976 fixed seats and 24 wheel chair zone seats (12 users/12 attendants). A spokesperson at the theatre said she expects all eight shows to be full with 1,000 per show seated.

"Come From Away" In Concert is sold out.

Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. this morning for all eight performances of the music from the Broadway smash "Come From Away" and prior to 11 a.m., it was shown on the Holy Heart box office website, the event is sold out.

Performances for the show start on Wednesday with a 1:30 p.m. matiness at Holy Heart Theatre in St. John's and the nighttime show goes at 7:30 p.m.

There will be two shows each day through Sunday (1:30 and 7:30 p.m.).

The St. John’s engagement of "Come From Away" in Concert is a fundraising event with net proceeds from this engagement will go to:

  • The six towns that hosted the 7,000 stranded travellers who landed at Gander Airport after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York. These six communities are Gander, Gambo, Appleton, Lewisporte, Norris Arm, and Glenwood.
  • Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Community Food Sharing Association.

The show runs a continuous 100 minutes and is performed without an intermission.
