ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A 25-year-old C.B.S. woman received a suspended sentence and probation Monday after she pleaded guilty to using counterfeit cash at fast-food restaurants and a gas station.
Katelyn Hussey was charged with four counts each of possessing and using counterfeit money after she used a fake $100 bill on four occasions earlier this year at Mary Brown's, Tim Hortons and Irving locations in C.B.S.
She was released from custody to await trial, but in the meantime earned a charge of driving while under the influence of cocaine and a number of charges of breaching the conditions of her release.
Hussey had been set to go to trial Monday morning, but instead made a plea deal with the Crown. She pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing counterfeit cash, impaired driving and breaching a court order by failing to check in at RNC headquarters, and the rest of the charges were withdrawn.
Hussey was given a suspended sentence and 18 months of probation, meaning she must abide by conditions for the next 18 months or face serving the time in prison.
