Gander man and woman charged after alleged shoplifting spree in central Newfoundland

Theft charges have been laid against a man and a woman from Gander after they were apprehended by police on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

According to a RCMP release, several complaints were received from businesses in Grand Falls-Windsor and Bishop's Falls reporting items had been stolen, including groceries, clothing, cigarettes and hygiene products.

A number of the items were recovered during a traffic stop of a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway by the Gander RCMP matching the description of the one used by the suspects.

The man, 27, has been charged with theft. He was released by police.

The woman, also 27, has been charged with several counts of theft, breaches of an undertaking and breaches of probation. She was remanded into custody.

Both have court appearances scheduled for a later date.
