The Corner Brook Come Home Year is in full swing and is shaping up for a great finale.
The much-anticipated celebration of being from the city has drawn great crowds at most events so far, including the opening ceremonies last Friday evening, a concert at the civic centre Saturday evening and a trio of family picnics Sunday afternoon.
Plenty of folks home visiting their family and friends have been out and about checking out the sights and sounds of Corner Brook, whether familiar from days gone by or new additions since they were last home.
There’s plenty more on tap up until the celebration ends Sunday, including meals offered by locals service organizations, nightly entertainment. The highlights include “Blame it on Broadway,” which will see a section of the city’s nightclub district shut down to vehicular traffic for an outdoor concert Friday evening, and “Best on West,” an antique car show and outdoor concert that will shut down West Street all day Saturday.
It’s looking as though Mother Nature will be cooperating the rest of the way as well. While there is a 40 per cent chance of showers in the forecast for Wednesday, the temperatures range from 22 C to 27 C with sunny skies up until Sunday and nightly lows of no less than 12 C.
