Joanne Rose said she is obviously very glad for a six-month reprieve on an order for her and her husband, Tom Rose, to cease and desist living in her residence at 45 Hillier Ave.
The extension to the order, which was originally for 14 days from its issuance, was granted by the Stephenville town council at Thursday’s meeting, with no discussion.
Coun. Mark Felix, who wasn’t in attendance when the order was approved to be issued, said in an interview late last week he felt the 14-day time limit was a little harsh.
Rose said had council not approved the extension she had requested, she would have had to appeal the decision, since the time would have been up on Monday of next week.
“This will save us having to make that appeal,” she said.
Rose said the first couple of days after the order was issued, she was in shock and couldn’t do anything.
She said now that they have time, especially where they got the two approvals a year and a half apart and understood it was OK to go ahead, but council said differently, she will investigate those issues, and this gives her the time to do that.
