HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. — Labrador MP Yvonne Jones announced today, July 15, that a contract has been awarded to Markland Paving Ltd. to do $2.3 million worth of runway repairs this summer in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The contract was officially awarded on July 2. Once the repair work is complete, the current restrictions on heavy aircraft are expected to be lifted, she said.

Jones, who made the announcements on behalf of Minister of National Defence Harjit S. Sajjan, also said the contract for the base’s facilities maintenance will soon be re-tendered. The current contract expires in 2021 and the federal government will be looking to tender a new 10-year contract.
