The Iron Ore company of Canada put out a statement today that the incident on the railway did not involve a train.
Four people were taken to hospital following the incident March 13. According to IOC, two have been released and two of the employees are still being treated in hospital.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said at about 10:15 a.m. they were called to an incident on the highway between Labrador City and Churchill Falls. Four IOC employees were sent to the Labrador West Health Centre with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.
IOC said the incident occurred during maintenance work on the railway.
Railway traffic remains suspended, with operations having resumed across the rest of IOC’s business, according to the company.
“Nothing is more important to IOC than the safety of our employees and we are working to provide support to the people affected and their families,” a spokesperson for the company said.
