David Gerald Doyle, 41, to appear before a provincial court judge this afternoon

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. —

David Gerald Doyle has been named as the man who allegedly stabbed two people in Conception Bay South around suppertime Tuesday before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Doyle, 41, is currently in the holding cells at provincial court in downtown St. John’s, waiting to be called before a judge. He’s not expected to be called until this afternoon.

Doyle has been charged with the aggravated assault of a man and a woman, assaulting the same two people with a knife, theft of a motor vehicle and three breaches of a court orders implemented in February, which required that Doyle keep the peace and be of good behaviour, stay away from alcohol and not operate a motor vehicle. All the offences are alleged to have occurred Wednesday.

The RNC was called to Watton Place in C.B.S. early Tuesday evening for an alleged stabbing. The two injured parties were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police determined the suspect had already fled in a stolen vehicle. Doyle was arrested not long afterwards and taken into custody.

More to come.
