The Department of Health and Community Services announced today that Fewer’s Ambulance service will take over from Moore’s Ambulance service in the Conception Bay North region.
This service covers an area from the Trans-Canada Highway to Harbour Grace, and will operate from the already established bases in Harbour Grace and Clarke’s Beach.
A news release states that Fewer’s has committed to providing the same ambulance service Moore’s was previously contracted to provide. Currently, Fewer’s owns and operates the neighbouring Young’s Ambulance Service, also in Conception Bay North.
The release states that area residents are assured there will be no disruption in service. Area residents should call 911 for emergencies.
Fewer’s has agreed to work with the department to ensure Moore’s employees who are owed retroactive wages are paid.
“Reliable and responsive ambulance service is essential for all residents of our province,” Health and Community Services Minister John Haggie said. “People living in the Conception Bay North region are guaranteed there will be no disruption in service when our relationship with Moore’s ends. I also want to reassure Moore’s employees who are owed retroactive wages that they will be paid by the new operator.”
