Businessman and former Liberal candidate Paul Antle is taking another crack at becoming an MHA.
On Thursday afternoon, Antle announced his intention to seek the nomination, just minutes before the Liberal Party announced its all for nominations for the Windsor Lake byelection.
The Liberal call for nominations will close on August 21.
Antle is the CEO of Pluto Investments, an equity firm which owns the St. John’s Dockyard and Humber Motors Ford Ltd.

Antle is also the chair of Rainbow Riders and the Raise It Up campaign.
Antle previously ran for the Liberals in the 2015 general election, losing in St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi to New Democratic Party MHA Lorraine Michael. He also ran for the Liberal leadership in 2013, placing second to now premier Dwight Ball.
In 2006, Antle lost to then-Conservative Incumbent Norm Doyle in the riding of St. John’s East.
Antle is the first person to step forward to oppose PC Leader Ches Crosbie in the byelection. Crosbie announced his intention to run in the byelection on Aug. 7, the day after current Windsor Lake MHA Liberal Cathy Bennett announced she would resign the seat, effective August 21.
Currently, no timeline has been announced for when the New Democratic Party will call for nominations for their candidate in the byelection.
The date for the byelection must be announced within 60 days of August 21.
