Residents of Corner Brook have a chance to adopt their own fire hydrant in a new contest announced by the city.
The Adopt-a-Hydrant contest is designed to encourage residents to regularly clear snow away from hydrants so they are readily accessible in an emergency.
People or groups registering for the contest, which started Monday and runs until March 31, will be eligible to win a weekly $50 gift cards or a grand prize of a new snowblower.
