CORNER BROOK, N.L. — Students, staff and faculty at Grenfell Campus and students from the College of the North Atlantic in Corner Brook will join members of the public in a climate-action strike Friday.
This student-led initiative is aimed at bringing awareness to the climate crisis affecting people across the globe, says a prepared release from event organizers.
The strike will begin outside the Backlot at Grenfell at noon and those gathered will then march to Margaret Bowater Park where professors, artists and community members will speak on how climate issues affect all people. Following the speeches the group will march to Corner Brook City Hall at about 1:15 p.m.
Similar strikes are being held world wide to bring people together to feel supported, and to ensure policy makers and politicians in their communities are aware people are worried about the climate crisis.
