A $10 scratch and win lottery ticket bought on a recent payday by Telegram production plant employee Jo-Anne Stacey of Kelligrews, C.B.S., paid off in a massive way.
Stacey and her husband Chris got a $500,000 cheque from Atlantic Lottery Wednesday.
She purchased the $10 Fortune ticket at the Canadian Tire gas bar outlet on Topsail Road on June 22, along with a few others, just down over the parking lot hill from The Telegram’s production plant on Columbus Drive in St. John’s.
She scratched the other two purchased, while Chris had the good fortune of scratching the $500,000 winner.
They were presented with their windfall at the Atlantic Lottery headquarters on Hallett Crescent in St. John’s Wednesday morning by Atlantic Lottery administrative assistant Tiffany Hickman.
Canadian Tire gas bar outlet owner/operator Sharon Ralph was also presented with a one-per-cent seller’s cheque of $5,000 by Dana Grant, account manager for Atlantic Lottery NL.
The Staceys first plan with the lottery win is to put a new roof on their home in Kelligrews, and Jo-Anne said her wish is to take a riverboat cruise in a year or so.
Chris, a truck driver with Central Dairies, foresees a newer “upgraded” motorcycle in his future. The couple also have three young adult sons to celebrate their lottery win with.
The $500,000 Fortune Scratch n’ Win ticket was launched nationally in May and offers five top prizes of $500,000, with four remaining now as of Wednesday upon the Stacey’s receiving their cheque for the first top prize to be awarded.
