A young man from Corner Brook was released from custody Wednesday, but still has charges against him.
Riley Byrne, 18, was arrested after the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a disturbance at a residence in Corner Brook just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
He was initially charged with three offences involving three different victims. Two of the charges were assault causing bodily harm, while the third was an assault. Later, he was charged with a fourth offence, namely trying to choke one of the victims he is accused of assaulting and causing bodily harm.
After appearing in provincial court later Tuesday, Byrne was remanded in custody until a bail hearing Wednesday. Crown attorney Adam Sparkes was not opposed to Byrne’s release, under certain conditions that included abiding by a curfew and having no contact with either of the victims.
He was released and had his next appearance in provincial court set for Feb. 19.
