Just four days after being released from custody, Mark Thompson is alleged to have breached the conditions of a recognizance put in place on July 3.

Thompson, 25, of Corner Brook was charged on June 29 with the sexual assault of a young person under the age of 16. He’s also charged with sexual interference involving the same victim and with unlawfully supplying liquor to a minor.

The conditions of the recognizance included that Thompson keep the peace and be of good behaviour, have no contact with his alleged victim or other witnesses, have no contact with anyone under 16, except for immediate family members or incidental contact while in the presence of a responsible adult and that he not use the Internet to visit any social media sites.

Information filed with the provincial court in Corner Brook shows breaches of all four conditions allegedly having taken place on July 7 and 8.

He’s charged with a total of eight breaches of the recognizance under section 145 (3) of the Criminal Code.

Thompson appeared in court on the latest charges on Thursday morning.

Sandi MacKinnon, who was acting as duty counsel on the breaches, said Thompson would be seeking to be released.

She asked for time to come up with a release plan that would satisfy the Crown and if that is not possible that a bail hearing be held.

The matter was set over to 1:30 p.m. today.
