It was raining and chilly outside, but that didn’t stop the City of Corner Brook from showing off what it does during Municipal Awareness day.
The city conducted a series of demonstrations and presentations during the event held at the civic centre.
Out in the parking lot, the Corner Brook Fire Department and the municipal public works department showed off various aspects of their work.
Employees also fed the crowd with a free BBQ and refreshments.
Inside the annex lobby were a series of information booths about city operations and presentations from city staff about topics such as the new splash pad being built at Margaret Bowater Park, dealing with the pothole problem and more.
The city also offered an area for children and their families to play.
Later in the day, several young students got to participate in a city council meeting, serving as temporary councillors. The meeting, which discussed actual issues in the city, was chaired by Jacob Cull of Immaculate Heart of Mary School as Mayor for a Day.
