The Corner Brook Public Library is urging anyone who gets a nasty phone call falsely made on its behalf to notify the library immediately.

On Wednesday, a library patron called the library to advise of an inappropriate phone call they had received.

According to librarian Sandee Harnum, the prank call was not just rude, consisting of harassing and offensive language, but also referenced policies not followed by the Corner Brook Public Library.

“We hope this is just an isolated incident, but you never can tell with these sorts of things,” she said Thursday.

Harnum is unaware of any other calls other than the one reported. An investigation into the call has been launched, but she is not sure if this is a matter for the police to be called in to assist with just yet.

“We’ll see what our own investigation turns up and we’ll go from there,” she said.

Anyone who gets a prank call from someone claiming to represent the library is urged to collect as much information as possible about the call and then report it to the Corner Brook Public Library by calling 634-0013.
