CORNER BROOK, N.L. — A member of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook has been charged with assaulting another officer.
Daniel Abbass, 37, is also charged with causing a disturbance in or near a public place.
Both offences are alleged to have occurred Aug. 2.
The information was sworn before the provincial court in Corner Brook Aug. 19.
Abbass has appeared before the court on the charges previously and they are currently set to be called again Nov. 26.
Const. James Cadigan, the RNC’s media relations officer from St. John’s, has confirmed that Abbass has been placed on administrative duties with the force pending the outcome of his criminal matters.
