CORNER BROOK, N.L. — The City of Corner Brook is encouraging drivers to think before they park their vehicles this winter season.

The city’s overnight winter parking ban comes into effect Sunday and runs until May 1, 2020.

Overnight parking on city streets will not be permitted between midnight and 8 a.m.

Vehicles parked on city streets during that time may be ticketed and towed.

The ban is necessary in order to allow for efficient and safe snow removal and ice control operations.

Vehicles may also be ticketed for obstructing snow clearing.

Vehicles extending out of a driveway or parked on the sidewalk are prone to damage and become a dangerous obstacle for city crews. Obstacles prevent crews from clearing the sidewalks properly, which causes accessibility issues.
