Council approves nine items under permits and municipal plan

Fall Clean-up dates set for Sept. 30 through Oct. 4

STEPHENVILLE, N.L. — STEPHENVILLE, N.L. — Stephenville town council approved nine items under permits and its municipal plan regulations at its regular general meeting Thursday.
The items approved were as follows:
- 9819983 Canada Ltd./McDonalds: permit to update existing pylon sign at 221 Main Street.
- Elite Roofing and Contracting Ltd.: permit to operate a steel roofing and siding business from the building at 5-7 Prince Rupert Drive.
- Elite Roofing and Contracting Ltd.: permit to erect business signage on Route 490.
- J.M. Delaney Lumber Limited: permit for interior renovations and update electrical on property at 74 St. Clare Avenue.
- The town issued an order to the owners of the property at 17 King Street to vacate, remediate or demolish the building at that location.
- Enterprise Rent-A-Car: permit to install a business sign at 32-34 Prince Rupert Drive.
- Mothers Against Drunk Driving: permission to host MADD Strides for Change program Oct. 5.
- Galen Holdings Ltd.: permit to replace asphalt between the sidewalk and building with concrete pavers on Queen Street, east side of building located at 141-147 Main Street.
- Fall Clean-up: council approved the dates of Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 for fall clean-up in town. It was noted that dark garbage bags will not be accepted and items such as metals, wood and branches must be placed in separate piles.
