The West Newfoundland Regional Appeal Board has postponed the hearing of an appeal on the Town of Deer Lake’s approval of a crematorium.
The town voted last October to allow construction of the crematorium by Parsons Funeral Home at 63 North Main Street.
The appeal, launched by residents Kayla Critch and Stephen Brent following that decision, was supposed to have been heard on Sept. 19.
A notice from the board says the postponement is necessary because the appellants’ representative is not available on that day.
A new date has not yet been set to hear the appeal.
Meanwhile, an appeal over the denial by the City of Corner Brook of an application from Country Haven Funeral Home to construct a crematorium on Country Road will go ahead as planned at the Holiday Inn Express in Deer Lake on Sept. 20.
