The Deer Lake RV Park and Campground is in need of some work.
Located on Nicholsville Road, Mayor Dean Ball calls the park a gem.
“A rough gem today, but it needs a little more TLC. It certainly needs some cash injected into it for upgrading and expanding.”
So to give the municipally-owned facility the attention it deserves, the town council intends to develop a master plan for the park.
The park is operated by a contractor and Ball said that person can’t do the work that’s needed alone.
He said the park is always full and there is a waiting list of people wanting to get in.
“If we weren’t getting a customer base then it would be a different look at it. But right now the customer base is there.”
The need for a plan was discussed during last week’s council meeting. Ball said Friday that it will go to the committee level to develop that plan and some sort of timeframe its for implementation.
“The town recognizes the need for that park to have some attention drawn to it.” And, he said over the course of the next number of years there will be an allocation of money to enhance the park.
Ball said he couldn’t put a dollar figure on just how much is needed to upgrade the park until the plan is completed.
