On Saturday morning, members of Deer Lake Search and Rescue held Ice rescue training in the area of the powerhouse wharf in Deer Lake.
The training was done by Grant Curnew of Newfoundland and Search and Rescue. Ice rescue trainer members who had completed the training in the past were recertified and two new members received their initial training.
During the session, all members present got training on how to use a new ice rescue board that makes it easier to retrieve victims from icy waters whether they are responsive or not.
