Driver, 18, caught going 52 km/h over speed limit in Steady Brook

STEADY BROOK, N.L. — Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers detachment stopped a driver caught traveling at 152 km/h in a 100 km/h zone early along the Trans Canada Highway in Steady Brook early Monday morning.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Rocky Harbour, was charged under the province’s highway traffic act for exceeding the speed limit by 51 km/h or more.

He was issued a fine, a seven-day driving suspension and had his vehicle impounded for three days.
