SOUTH COAST, N.L. – The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment is warning residents on the southwest and southeast coasts of the province to stay away from the shoreline over the next couple of days.

The department says it is monitoring Environment and Climate Change Canada weather forecast information on potential coastal impacts from Tropical Storm Leslie.

Higher than normal water levels and pounding surf are expected to start tonight Friday, Oct. 5, and continue through Saturday.

The latest forecast information indicates waves may reach five or six metres in height.
